Proper Hydration Health Benefits

Proper diet and exercise still require proper hydration. So why is it that every time you walk into your local health food or grocery store there is more confusion about what we should drink to provide our bodies with proper hydration?

As you can see water is crucial to our overall health and biological makeup and our lives depend on it. We could actually survive longer without food than we could without water. Yet in spite of its importance, many still neglect the health benefits of water. Every function within our bodies in some way or some form requires water.

The standard daily intake of regular drinking water is eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. While that seems unattainable to most, it is a target we all should strive for to improve our health. First, by promoting proper digestion, the healthy food you eat will be properly digested and the nutrients will be efficiently transported into your cells. However even more simple than that, you can drink away the pounds by simply replacing sugary soda with water. Here is a simple example:

  • 1 soda = 910 calories
  • 1 soda per day = 6370 calories per week
  • 1 soda per day = 47,320 calories per year
  • 47,370 calories = 13 pounds per year

While that doesn’t sound like a lot of weight you would lose, that is strictly the caloric intact from soda. This doesn’t take into account what all the sugar does to your body and how it increases the risk of diabetes and all the health issues associated with it.
