3 Habits Successful Entrepreneurs Find Time for Every Day

3 Habits Successful Entrepreneurs All Have

What does it take to be a successful entrepreneur? Can it be explained in one post? It can’t but there are some key items that you can start to do to put you on the path of success.

We see and hear all the time people selling the idea of becoming an entrepreneur because they will have the ability to work less, make more money and do as they please when they want. While this is not 100% untrue, the way it’s being pitched on a continuous basis is leading many people astray and setting them up for failure.

There is no question you can do and earn much more money as an entrepreneur than as an employee, but it does come at a price. The price of coarse is the work you must put into your business to establish it, grow it and then benefit from it. There is no such business that allows you to get started then immediately sit back and count the money as it comes into your bank account. We’re sorry to say that you will actually work harder and most likely more in the world of entrepreneurship than you will as an employee . . . for a period of time.

The time it takes to get your business up and running will not be 40 years or even 10 years, it will most likely be 3-5 years of dedication and work to grow your business. There is however a silver lining in the fact you will be working harder than before; you will ENJOY what you are doing. That in itself is a major blessing, but it can still take its toll on you if you are not productive and ready.

So we have put together three items successful entrepreneurs always make time for in the midst of their hectic schedules. These three items will help you stay on target, allow you to stay organized and get the most out of each of your days.

Become an Early Riser

When we are young, lack of sleep usually had little effect on us. Staying up late, getting up early the next day was something we were able to do with ease. Then as we get older, start having busier lives, we find ourselves not as capable to do this as frequently.

We recognize the importance of our sleep, so we make sure we get our proper 7-8 hours of quality sleep each day. However, not all eight-hour sleep windows are the same. There have been numerous studies conducted on an individual’s performance based on when they sleep.

Going to bed at 3:00 AM and waking up at 11:00 AM is not the same as going to bed at 10:00 PM and waking up at 6:00 AM. Early risers were shown to have a distinct advantage over their counterparts in mental clarity, acuity and energy levels. These advantages are cumulative as the work conducted with the raised awareness and clarity allows you to accomplish more in the same time period.

If you are not an early riser you can become one, but you will need to shift your sleep patterns. Do not attempt staying up until 2:00 AM finishing off a project then getting up at 6:00 AM the next morning. Your body and brain need sufficient rest to recover. What you think you may be gaining in “work-time” you are drastically losing in productivity and mental sharpness.

Start With the End in Mind

In goal setting, we are told to visualize ourselves in possession or living our goals before they appear in our reality. To a much lesser extent, we can use the same methodology to our day. Start every day with the end in mind and what you want to accomplish within the day. Successful entrepreneurs always start their tasks, let alone their day, with the end in mind.

We have all had days where from the minute you wake-up you are responding to emails and phone calls that happened while you were sleeping. From there, our day continues to get more chaotic and we seemingly jump from fire to fire, with no real plan of attack except dealing with the hottest fire at each moment. Then at the end of the day, as exhaustion overcomes us and we crawl into bed, some of our last thoughts are “What did we get accomplished today?

If this is what your every day sounds like it has to stop. It has to stop for your productivity and more importantly your health. Start each day with a clear thought of what you are going to accomplish in the day. A trick to getting a head start on your day is to review your to-do list prior to going to bed. This allows your subconscious mind to work on problems while you sleep and when you awake you are ready to solve and move forward with the tasks at hand.

Some productive, successful entrepreneurs like to take 10-15 minutes every morning to meditate. Becoming centred, balanced and relaxed prior to your day allows you greater strength and clarity to see the tasks and then accomplish them efficiently.

There will inevitably be days where everybody seems to be after you. In those moments when you feel most overwhelmed or stressed, take a minute to simply take 10 deep breathes, calm yourself down and think about your objectives. Once you have done this, with the thought and vision of your tasks completed, re-engage in your day and move forward.

It’s ok to take a few of these breaks every day. You can use them to not only ensure you are in the right frame of mind, but it will also help you to see that you are on track to get done your tasks on your to-do list. If you find you are continually behind on your list, you may need to revise how you do your to-do lists, and potentially plan more time for each task.

3 Successful Entrepreneur Habits
