Clearer Skin in 10 Simple Ways

Clearer Skin in 10 Simple Ways

For any of us who have, or have had problem skin in the past, you understand the feeling of looking at your face in the mirror only to see another blemish or pimple. It’s aggravating, embarrassing and at times almost feels hopeless that our skin continues to have these problems.

What can be done to clear-up our complexion and give us skin that is blemish-free? It is not an impossible task and we will show you these 10 simple steps are for clearer skin. Use them together or alone to improve both the look and feel of your skin. As you will see, the path to clearer skin is not just what you put on your face.

Citrus is more than Great Tasting

Many people understand the health benefits of vitamin C and how these benefits can also extend to our complexion. For this reason, many people regularly eat oranges and other citrus fruits but what they are missing are the benefits of applying these foods topically. The use of citrus fruits topically to clean skin can tighten pores, remove dead skin cells and even act as a toner when used at the end of a skincare routine.

Properly Moisturize

This simple step may be the second biggest item many people miss regarding clear skin. Even individuals who have oily skin need to moisturize their face. While your skin may not appear dry, the oils do not provide your skin the nutrients it needs to be healthy.

Make a habit of moisturizing your face, with the frequency depending on skin type. For some, this could be once in the morning and for others, it could be multiple times during the day, such as morning and before bedtime.

After cleaning your face with a pH-balanced cleanser finish the routine with a quality moisturizer. Some of our clients who have more sensitive skin will use a natural moisturizer like extra virgin olive oil.

Protect Your Skin at All Times

While moisturizing was second on our list, this is definitely at the top of the most overlooked item for clearer skin. Wearing sunblock and protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun is vital to not only clearer skin but also healthier skin.

It’s easy to remember to put sunscreen on when you’re in your bathing suit on the beach, but you also have to remember to have sunscreen on the rest of the year. To remind yourself to wear sunscreen have some in your makeup bag or where you keep your cosmetics. Also, it’s just as important to wear sunscreen on a cloudy day as it is on a clear day as the UV rays are just as damaging.

Daily Vitamin Intake

The skin is an outward sign of what is going on inside your body. Bad skin can mean that the body is not getting the nutrients and vitamins it needs to be healthy. The use of a daily multivitamin can help improve the quality of the skin.

Some great ones to try are vitamin E and C and proper amounts of protein and zinc are also important to improve skin quality with one of the best supplements being Biotin.

Bee-utiful with Honey

Honey is amazing for the skin; it is believed to help fight aging and it restores a soft, youthful, blemish-free look to the skin. Look for skincare items that contain honey or simply apply natural honey as a face mask and then rinse with warm water as a great way for supporting your journey to clearer skin.

Another Reason to Eat Your Vegetables

We can’t stress enough that a happy inside creates a happy outside for the body. There’s a reason you’re supposed to have your “5 a day”. Vegetables are full of essential vitamins and help give skin that refreshing look. Not only will eating more vegetables help our skin, but they also help to fill us up; leading to less of a chance of foods that are bad for us.

It’s Called Junk for a Reason

We know you’re probably thinking “but it’s so delicious”. Yes, it is but the way to radiant skin is not through greasy cheeseburgers. No one is telling you that you can’t eat an Oreo ever again but we are encouraging you to stop eating whole bags of Doritos in one sitting like it’s your job.

Nature’s Candy

Now, you had to cut down on the junk but that doesn’t mean you need to starve. Try snacking on some strawberries instead of whatever that gooey stuff was inside of that snack cake. Fruits are a good source of fibre, have high water content and they have the vitamins and nutrients that healthy skin needs and as an added bonus they taste great.

More than Scrambled Eggs

A face mask is a great step to better skin. Whether you choose a Skindulgence Firming Facial System, BioCell Mask or homemade egg masks, they are all fantastic ways to rejuvenate and replenish your skin. If you choose to make your own egg mask, create it by cracking an egg and separating the yolk and white into separate bowls. Take the egg white and beat it with a fork until it becomes foamy. Apply to clean face and leave until dry. Rinse with warm water then cover the face with egg yolk, leaving it on until it dries. Rinse with warm water and see how beautiful your skin looks.

Hydration is Key

Roughly 70% of your body is made of water and your skin needs it to look and feel its best. Last on our list of simple ways to clearer skin is your hydration. Your body needs at least 8 cups (or about 2 litres) of water each day to stay healthy and keep your skin radiant. A healthy adult can drink up to 3 gallons of water in a day.

All water is not created equally as there is bound and unbound water. Proper hydration requires cellular hydration coming from bound water. Simply put, the water is absorbed at a cellular level, flushing our toxins and delivering nutrients. Drinking clustered water allows this process to happen quickly and effectively.

In addition to its effectiveness, drinking 2-3 litres per day is not required. Simply 1-2 250 mL glasses per day are all that is required.

With these 10 ways you can have the clear skin that you always want, and stop break-outs and blemishes before they occur.

As always we appreciate all your comments and emails and don’t forget to share with your friends how they too can have clear beautiful skin.
